Creating Brighter Futures

Become A Tutor

The Literacy Task Force of Northern Wisconsin provides a variety of training for teachers, parents and other members of the community who are committed to acting as tutors. Participants learn scientifically researched methods for tutoring individuals who have difficulty with reading. Over 130 tutors have been trained in a one or two-week beginning level training workshop by the Literacy Task Force.

Testimonials

“I wish it was a mandatory course for all beginning teachers.”

“As a teacher, it is heart wrenching to watch learners become so frustrated that they view themselves as being dumb. I have often thought to myself, there must be a way to reach these lost learners. It was a true blessing that I happened upon this course focusing on a multisensory structured language approach. This course is the hope I have been searching for over the last 18 years.”

“My goal is to help every student I work with become the best reader and writer he or she can be. Thank you for giving me the tools I need to achieve this goal.”

“Anyone who teaches reading would benefit. It is a wonderful way to teach reading, in and out of the classroom.”

“The more teachers are aware of specific interventions for struggling readers, the better.”

“I would definitely recommend this to others, especially to primary teachers. It’s great for teaching our kids to learn and use the language – it takes the mystery out of it.”

“Everything and everyone involved with this training was first class! Thank you! The wealth of knowledge shared was amazing!”

This is a wonderful course.  I will definitely watch for next year's course and take that one also.It is great to learn and see how it can help others.

Thanks so much for providing this unique training so close to our home schools.  I have networked with incredible people and developed appropriate skills to assist students.

Thank you for offering this class and making it available at a lower price for seniors!  It was such a valuable experience!

What a wonderful opportunity for bringing together a group of people who are interested and dedicated to helping with literacy skills in Wisconsin. Keep it going!
